Operators are facing heavy competition, increasing subscriber activity and rapid growth of new web services. They have to deal with three fundamental business challenges.
First - revenue generation. This includes an increase in ARPU, reduction of unit bandwidth cost for flat-rate plans and securing revenue from alternative markets such as OTT or Internet advertizing. Second - cost reduction. Reduction of data transfer costs and prevention of traffic loss due to network congestion either by prioritizing traffic or relieving the overloaded segment. Third - customer loyalty and churn control. In addition to high connection quality, operators also need to provide subscribers with a broader range of products, access to personal selection and customization of services, customer feedback opportunities and rapid response to market demands.
Meet Jet Subscriber Manager – superior solution that allows operators to establish user-specific traffic management policies that solve all three fundamental business challenges outlined above.
The possibility of implementing a unified subscriber account, which allows subscriber to have just one personal account for home internet, mobile internet and Wi-Fi access.
Supported protocols: Diameter, Radius, DHCP. Easy integration with any operator network: fixed line, mobile, broadband, Wi-Fi.
Supports OMA standards and works with user location information, which allows realization of location based scenarios.
JSM provides operators with superior enhancement of their tariff policies, making them exceptionally flexible and giving subscribers advanced tool to manage and create their own tariffs. For example, JSM allows subscribers to create own tariffs using only those options that are relevant to their requirements, connect selected options on temporary basis for extra fee, setting access limits to certain resources or instead upgrading connection speeds for specific types of content.
Jet Subscriber Manager collects information of subscriber profiles (tariff plans, connected services etc.), network resources (channel load, applications priority), the subscriber session status (particularly, traffic used). This information plus additional data (time of day, info from external partners) is used to create system-specific policies that are sent to the DPI platform for execution. By interacting with operator’s external systems, JSM processes different events, such as changes in the tariff plan, addition/cancellation of services or subscriber status changes (e.g. disconnection) etc. Such variables are included in subscriber profiles stored in the JSM database, along with parameter settings for different services (e.g. “Turbo Button” service must be turned on between 7 pm and 1 am).
JSM (Jet Subscriber Manager), a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) software, is the core element of a comprehensive Policy and Charging Control (PCC) solution. This module is a software suite designed to integrate DPI with operator systems, execute sophisticated scenarios, notify and charge subscribers.
As JSM interacts with the DPI platform, it monitors subscriber authorization, start/end of sessions and any changes in session parameters. A subscriber session log contains username, user terminal identification, IP-address and other parameters from the RADIUS/DIAMETER message. Also, JSM monitors subscriber traffic and collects relevant statistics. DPI can send data on all user traffic, p2p traffic, traffic to/from certain nodes and so on.
JSM’s component architecture can be easily scaled up and/or customized to fit the needs and systems of a particular operator (in terms of billing, personal profiles, authorization rules and so on).
